A Yeast Infection?
Yeast infections come in many forms but the most common and well known type occurs in women in the form of an overgrowth of the candida fungus in the vagina.
The signs of a vaginal yeast infection include burning and itching in the vaginal area, and an odorous vaginal discharge that is best described as looking like runny cottage cheese. These candida yeast infections can be treated by anti-fungal pills, creams, or suppositories and, if fairly mild, by natural remedies.
Vaginal candida infections are not the only type of yeast infections. Oral thrush (trench mouth) is another infections that can occur. The signs of this infection are easy to spot because of the obvious "cottage cheese" look to the inside of the mouth, including the tongue. If untreated this type of yeast infection can spread down the throat. If you try to scrape away the curdy bits you'll find the underlying tissue is raw and bleeding and is extremely painful. Unlike jock itch (another type of fungal infection), yeast infections in men tend to occur in the scrotum and penis area, not just the groin. However, simple bacterial infections are far more common than yeast infections and STDs and these infections can easily be treated.
